Men’s Church Basketball Rules

1. Registration Requirements

  1. This is a men's church basketball league only; players must be 18 years old or older with proof of ID unless specified otherwise by the Triumphant League owner.
  2. All players must pay the registration fee before the season starts.
  3. The fee per individual player will be $75 each. There will be no refunds of registration fees.
  4. The minimum number of players per team is 8, and the maximum number of players is 12.
  5. For individuals who do not have a team, the registration fee is the same and Triumphant League will place you on an existing team needing more players.
  6. Players can only be added to your team during the season if your team has already paid the registration fee for all the roster spots. The number of players cannot exceed the number of paid roster spots at any time.
  7. At least 5 players for each team must be present to play a game. If a team does not have 5 to play, the games must be 4 on 4 and under the same rules and clock. Teams must fill out the roster and turn it into the scorekeeper no later than 5 minutes before a game. No forfeit unless the team has only one player and no other team can loan players to compete. There will be no player loans in the playoffs.
  8. All teams are encouraged to provide their own jerseys, if a team is unable to provide jerseys Triumphant League will loan jerseys that would need to be returned after the game.
  9. Teams must have colored jerseys with legal numbers on the back of the jersey. Any player who does not meet this requirement will not be allowed to play. Numbers must be permanently affixed to the jersey, not tapped, or pinned on. Also, numbers applied with Marks-a-Lot or other ink pens will not be allowed. Legal numbers are any number between 0 and 99.
  10. Each team must have a designated team captain. This team captain can be a player/team captain, player/coach, or coach that has a registered team and has a minimum of 8 players for the roster and has paid the registration fee for each player.
  11. Each team can bring their own warm-up balls, Triumphant League will provide the official game ball and additional warm-up balls.

2. Triumphant League Season Format

  1. Each Triumphant League host church location will have a league of 12 teams maximum. Games will be played on Saturdays. The 1st game will be as scheduled, and the other games will follow.
  2. The season length will span over 2 or 3 months, depending on the number of teams that register.
  3. Each team will play 6 games in the regular season.
  4. All teams will make the playoffs. The playoffs are single-game elimination.
  5. If there are make-up games, those games will be played at the end of the regular season right before the playoffs.

3. Gym Rules

  1. No food or drinks are allowed in the gym.
  2. Absolutely no foul language in the gym or during the game.
  3. Respect must be given to teammates, coaches, officials, supporters, all church representatives, and all Triumphant League personnel. Self-control should always be practiced. Although it is a competition, this is a family-friendly atmosphere.
  4. No FIGHTING; doing so will result in being banned from the league without a refund.
  5. Shirts or uniforms must be worn always in the gym and on the premises of the Triumphant League functions.
  6. Basketball or court shoes must be worn while participating in Triumphant League Men’s Church Basketball.
  7. No loud music in the gym unless sponsored by Triumphant League and its affiliates.

4. Game Play Rules

  1. Each game will be opened with a word of prayer.
  2. Uniform and Equipment Guidelines:

    Headgear: Headbands are allowed if they do not easily come off. Du-rags or head covers that are tightly worn for hair or skin conditions are permitted.

    Jewelry: Watches are not to be worn. No bracelets or dangling jewelry. Earrings that are small and not easily removable are allowed. Necklaces that do not hang or dangle are allowed. Wedding bands are allowed.

    Eyewear: Sports glasses are allowed.

    Mouthpieces: Mouthpieces are allowed.

    ​​​​​​​Attire: Players can wear shorts or joggers with their jerseys. Jersey colors should be one team in dark colors and the other in light colors. If this is not possible, both teams should be easily distinguishable for referees and the scoring table.
  3. NBA rules will be used to regulate games.
  4. There will be 20-minute halves with a running clock. The clock will stop on all time-outs or in the last 2 minutes of the game, on fouls, or dead balls unless it is a 20-point deficit.  All games will run for a full 40 minutes, regardless of the score difference. If teams are late, the clock will continue to run until players arrive or the late team announces a forfeit. If they do not forfeit, the game will resume as normal when at least four players from each team are available. Both teams will have the remaining time to play. Overtime will be 2 minutes, the clock will stop on timeouts, fouls, or dead balls. Each team will receive 1 timeout in overtime. 1st overtime is 2 minutes, 2nd overtime is 1 minute, 3rd overtime is 1 minute sudden death, and the first team to score will win. 1 timeout per team in the 1st and 2nd overtime. No timeouts for sudden death.
  5. There will be 4 timeouts per game: 2 each half, 1 minute or 30 seconds. There will be a 3-minute halftime.
  6. 6 fouls to foul out unless a team only has 5 or 4 active players. In this case, additional fouls on that player will result in the other team shooting 2 extra free throws. 2 technical fouls will lead to being disqualified from the game, unless the team only has 5 or 4 players, in this case, 2 extra free throws will be awarded to the opposing team and anyone can shoot. This is continued after 2 technical fouls only if the team with the player in technical foul trouble only has 5 or 4 active players.
  7. If a player comes late in the second half it is a technical foul unless the player checks into the game before the first half ends. No transition take foul until the last 2 minutes of the game or overtime. A take foul will result in the fouled player receiving a foul shot and his team receiving possession of the ball.
  8. On a free throw, no player shall occupy the fourth lane space on either side of the free-throw lane. Players occupying any of the legally marked lane spaces on each side of the lane may break the vertical plane of the outside edge of a lane-space boundary once the ball leaves the shooter's hands.
  9. Players not in legally marked lane space shall remain behind the free throw line extended and behind the three-point field-goal line until the ball leaves the shooter's hands.
  10. All substitutions will be signaled by the referee on a dead ball or during a timeout.
  11. Players are responsible for substituting themselves in and out of games. Teams are responsible for making sure every person gets an adequate amount of playing time.
  12. Dunking the ball will be allowed in Triumphant League Men’s Church Basketball. Anyone hanging on the rim will be charged personally with an unsportsmanlike conduct foul, and any points scored will not be allowed. Players will be liable for damage occurring to the goals at any time. Any player damaging a goal can be suspended until restitution has been made. Any player, who damages a goal to the point where play cannot be continued, will cause his team to forfeit.
  13. If a player is thrown out of the game for receiving two technical fouls, they must leave the premises. If the player refuses to leave, the game clock will continue to run until the player is escorted out of the building. The player who was removed cannot return for any more games that day. If a player repeatedly exhibits behavior that causes their removal, they will be banned from the Triumphant League indefinitely.


5. Free Admission

        1.    All Triumphant League games are free for the public to attend.

1. Triumphant League records all games. All players must sign a media release waiver to play. Media access is only granted by ownership.


Triumphant League Name, Image, and Likeness Policy

Introduction The Triumphant League is dedicated to providing male athletes with the opportunity to play high-level basketball in a healthy and supportive environment. By registering or playing in the Triumphant League, athletes agree to the following terms and conditions regarding name, image, and likeness, as well as other important policies.

Consent and Waivers

  1. Injury Waiver: By registering to play in the Triumphant League, athletes consent to our injury waiver. The Triumphant League does not pay athletes, and therefore, the League and its brands are not held liable for any injuries or deaths that may occur during Triumphant League games.
  2. Media Release Waiver: Athletes also consent to our media release waiver, allowing the Triumphant League to use their name, image, and likeness for promotional purposes.

Independent League Status The Triumphant League is an independent basketball league. As such, all Triumphant League rules and policies supersede those of any outside entity.

Content Ownership and Media Rights

  1. Game Film and Highlights: The Triumphant League provides game film and highlights and markets the league. The Triumphant League owns the rights to any content produced by the league.
  2. Media Waiver: All athletes have consented to the Triumphant League media waiver. No content creator or organization outside the league supersedes this waiver.
  3. Monetization and Media Passes: Anyone wishing to monetize Triumphant League games to build their personal brand must apply for a media pass from the Triumphant League front office. This includes content creators, videographers, photographers, interviewers, news anchors, fans, athletes, coaches, etc.
  4. Compliance: Failure to comply with these bylaws and waivers will result in a ban from the league.

Content Tagging and Fair Use

  1. Tagging Requirements: Any content gathered during Triumphant League games or partnered events managed by the Triumphant League or its owners must tag the Triumphant League for fair use.
  2. Athlete Tagging: Athletes in the Triumphant League can tag themselves if they are present in short-form content. Athletes are responsible for this tagging, as the Triumphant League has too many participants to monitor everyone individually.

For Players and Shooters:
-Media Pass Fee: Starts at $100 per game. This pass is for individuals who want to create their own content or hire a shooter to film for them.
-Clip Pricing: $20 per short clip (under 1 minute) and $100 for full game highlights for an individual player. This pricing is for players who want Triumphant League to provide them with personal clips or highlights. The price is per clip or highlight, per game.

Revenue Sharing:
-For Shooters: 50/50 split on all sales.
-Tagging Requirement: All posts must tag Triumphant League @triumphantleague on every player post.

Payment Method:
-Payments must be made via CashApp ($triumpantleague) or a secure pay link provided by the League's ownership.

Penalties:
-Failure to tag Triumphant League will result in termination of the contract and a ban from the league.

Triumphant League Ban Policy

  1. Enforcement of Bans

    • A warning is not required to issue a ban.
    • Bans can be enforced by security or the host.
    • Bans can be upheld or overturned by Triumphant League Ownership.
    • All bans are indefinite.
  2. Review and Lifting of Bans

    • A ban can be reviewed and potentially lifted if approved by Triumphant League Ownership.
    • The banned individual must be willing to have a conversation with the owner, apologize, and admit to any wrongdoing detrimental to the League without blaming others.
    • The banned individual must submit a public apology to ownership and league members during the opening prayer.
    • If the ban is lifted, the individual will be closely monitored for conduct.
    • Any further grievances could result in a lifetime ban from all Triumphant League platforms and events.
  3. Grounds for Immediate Ban

    • Any type of physical action or verbal abuse that is not in-game or basketball-related is grounds for an immediate ban with no discussions.
    • Players should not cuss, instigate, threaten, or encourage violence at any time in the Triumphant League.
    • If a player exhibits violent behavior or language, they will be removed from the Triumphant League with no exceptions.
  4. Expectations for Attendees

    • All attendees of the Triumphant League must uphold, respect, and protect our culture, policies, and privacy.
    • We are independent and protected by the governing laws of North Carolina and operating LLCs.
  5. Leadership and Conduct

    • All captains and veteran Triumphant League attendees are encouraged and expected to set an example for new attendees regarding acceptable conduct.
    • Captains who do not exemplify leadership over their squad will not be invited back as captains.
    • If a team behaves in a manner that does not model Triumphant League values, that team will be removed without warning, even if it is during a current season.
